Catching up with Camilla Rose
Posted on 02 June 2017
With the Wedding season in full flow and Royal Ascot only weeks away, we caught up with Camilla the exceptionally talented milliner behind Camilla Rose Millinery to learn more about the inspiration behind each piece...
What has been your favourite piece to make to date?
It's very hard to say as each season I usually have one piece I'm particularly drawn to, however, I still remember how delighted I was finishing my very first hat and I have to say it is still one of my favourites!
What's on the horizon for Camilla Rose Millinery?
I would like to focus on what I am currently doing and continue to build my brand and reputation. I'd also like to design some further collections in addition to my current ranges.
Who would you say is your biggest inspiration or style icon?
It's not so much who, but what! I am always drawn to buildings the tiny elements used to construct them. My current Spring Summer collection, Architect really epitomises this, I have played with the layering of textures and different shapes, from the soft curves of the Volute to the angular lines of the Arris uniting them with pops of block colour.
Top tips for those looking for a hat for a wedding but unsure of what style would suit them best...
I think the best thing is to try hats on - and lots of them! Often, what makes something suit someone is having the confidence to wear it. A hat may suit your face shape but if you are uncomfortable wearing it then ultimately that hat is not for you! And for those that say 'hats don't suit me', I don't think that's true, they just haven't found the right one yet!
