Exploring the Outer Hebrides
Posted on 07 July 2017
So sorry for the radio silence recently, we have had a busy summer so far which has been wonderful.
After an amazing 10 days in Greece we were then home for a few days to quickly unpack and repack the bags as we were off to North Uist to stay with friends.
Having not explored Scotland as much as I would like to I wasn't sure what to expect or what to pack for a week in the Outer Hebrides. So as normal I packed everything I could for all seasons!
After a night on the sleeper train accompanied by Otto, we were met by Charlie in Inverness to carry on the journey by car.
Hours later and after many episodes of the hilarious podcast 'My Dad Wrote a Porno' (if you haven't downloaded it you must!) we arrived on the island of North Uist.
It is so stunningly beautiful and completely remote, you really do arrive feeling as though you have left the world and all the craziness behind you.
Days are spent strolling along the beach, fishing off the boat, lobster potting, avoiding the rainstorms, devouring our books and catching up.
With each day ending with sundowners on the beach and a quick swim, so quick that we didn't even manage to catch it on camera!
Supper was always a yummy combination of our catch of the day and local produce from the island.
With sunset not until 10.30pm you are treated to long summer evenings ending in gorgeous pink skies.
North Uist is a truly heavenly spot and somewhere I would love to visit time and time again. Thank you so much for having us, we had the best time!
